It’s now just a week to go before the DofE training weekend up in the Lake District.
In preparation for the weekend could I ask you all to read this http://indieoutdoors.co.uk/#!/axel beforehand. (website only works on a PC)
PLEASE NOTE: You each need 3000-4000 calories a day minimum, not 2,000 like it says on the website!
On the weekend you will be preparing and cooking an evening meal, so it’ll helpful if you check out some favourite calorie-rich food stuff at the supermarket before the weekend.
On the weekend you will be expected to create a menu that ensures a 1000 calorie per person minimum for the evening meal.
On the Friday night you will create your team menu and write a shopping list, which staff will then use to purchase the items for you on Saturday. You will have a £3.00 pp budget for your meal. (Costs covered by us)
PLEASE NOTE: You will be cooking outside, whatever the weather, so can you ensure you bring a head torch, not a hand held torch.
I don’t think I included it on the kit list, but can you also bring your camping plate, cup and cutlery.
Finally ensure you bring a warm jacket, hat and thermals as you will be outside for quite a while in low temperatures.
