Silver Qualifying Expedition News

The times they are a-changin’.

Could all Silver group turn up on Tuesday 29th August at 6.30pm until 9pm. This is to sort menu’s, tents and hand out equipment.

We need to make sure the tents are all complete, trangias are working and that you are ready for the expedition.

There will be a kit check between 7 and 9pm Thursday evening. Bring your bag ready for leaving on Friday, your boots, waterproofs and everything you are taking. We will be checking bags and making sure everything is perfect so they can leave asap.

Dear Parents/Guardians

The Silver qualifying expedition is this weekend starting on Friday 1st September to Sunday 3rd September.
We will be meeting at the following drop-off points:
Friday 1st September
Lyme Park Disley, Stockport SK12 2NR (about 1.10mins away from Ormskirk). I will be there from 8.00 am if you need to drop off earlier.
We have got permission to drop-off and leave without paying the car park fee. If anyone asks let them know you are dropping off for Amplify Duke of Edinburgh and that Christopher Dunkerley is the person they should contact if there is any issue.
Silver Group 1 8.30am
Silver Group 2 9.00am

Once they are ready they will set off and walk about 13-14km to the campsite. They should have a packed lunch and plenty of water and snacks. They will camping at Linnet Clough Scout Camp on Friday night, where they will make a hot meal.
They should prepare a hot breakfast on Saturday morning and have a lunch ready. After walking for about seven hours they will camp on Saturday evening at Boarfold Scout campsite, which is run by the Scouts Association. They will prepare a hot meal and set up camp.
On the Sunday they need to prepare a hot breakfast, sort a packed lunch and then walk to the pick-up point at Rowarth Car Park, Goddard Lane, Derbyshire, SK22 1EB.

The young people can bring mobile phones but CANNOT use them to make or receive calls. We accept no liability for any breakages or loss.

We will endeavour to update via Facebook/website any changes to times, etc.
All equipment is to be returned dry to St Anne’s Parish Centre on Tuesday 5th September between 6pm and 8pm. We have to have time to dry the tents and return the equipment to the DofE centre.
