Silver & Gold Expedition info August 2020

We are still planning on running the Silver and Gold expeditions this year but it is hard to plan too far ahead with the constant changes with COVID.
We are going to stay local for the training/practice expedition in case we are not allowed to have the young people stay overnight.
Friday 25th September
Meet at St Anne’s Parish Centre at 6pm
Put up tent and cook a meal.
Plan route for Saturday.
Saturday 26th September
Walk from St Anne’s to St Elizabeth’s Church
Stay overnight (hopefully) at St Elizabeth’s
Cook meal
Sunday 27th September
Walk back to St Anne’s
unpack and have briefings
Silver Qualifying expedition
The qualifying expedition will be within an hour and fifteen mins from St Anne’s Church.

Kit List
CLOTHING
- 1 pair of walking boots (broken in)
- 2 pairs of walking socks
- 2-3 t-shirts
- Thermal t-shirt (optional)
- 2 fleece tops or similar
- 2 walking trousers (warm, NOT jeans or cotton type)
- Underwear
- Nightwear (not required for practice)
- Warm hat &/or sunhat (as appropriate)
- 1 pair gloves
- 1 pair shorts (if appropriate)
- Sunblock (if appropriate)
- Waterproof over-trousers
- Jacket/coat (waterproof & windproof)
- 1 pair gaiters (optional)
PERSONAL KIT
- Sleeping bag
- Waterproof compression stuff sack (5/10/15 litre) not essential, use bin bags to keep all equipment dry)
- Head torch and spare batteries
- Personal first aid kit, including pain killers, antihistamine tablets etc
- Expedition food (including emergency rations)
- Water bottle
- Knife, fork, spoon or Spork
- Plate/bowl
- Mug
- Box of matches (in waterproof container), please no lighters))
- Wash kit/personal hygiene items
- Towel
- Small quantity of money (optional)
- Notebook and pen/pencil
- Watch
- Sunglasses
- Insect repellent
- Spare boot laces (optional)
PPE – Personal Protective Equipment
- Face mask
- Small bottle of sanitiser gel
- Protective gloves
We will supply the following kit:
Single person tent or two person tent
Trangia
Maps – Laminated showing the route they are walking
Rucksacks
Sleeping mats
Group first aid kit
Emergency PPE kit
Our COVID Safety measures will include:
- A tent for each participant.
- Each participant will have their own map (laminated A3/A4 sheet)
- Each participant will have their own cooking gear and will cook their own food.
- We will supply masks and hand sanitiser for the parish centre and any periods where people may be together
- Staff will stay a safe distance away and participants will be supervised for distancing – social distancing will be considered and applied in every situation
- All expedition equipment will be quarantined for 72 hours after use

We will require a new consent form for the practice and expedition, this is to make sure that everyone participating in the expedition is COVID-19 free and that family members are also COVID-19 symptom free.
