Isle of Arran Gold Expedition Planning and Travel Information

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 4 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

Gold Expedition Route Planning

Please find the link to information regarding expedition route checkpoints, which you’ll need for your route planning.    Gold checkpoints Arran

Can you please complete your route planning using the edofe mapping tool, producing a map with route outline and route card and return them electronically to me by Friday 14th July.  If you we’re not at the meeting and don’t know how to use edofe mapping please ring me and I can talk you through it.

Expedition Kit Requirements

As advised at the planning meeting on the 27th June, can you make sure you bring with you the following additional items, to those listed on the kit list. LANCASHIRE OPEN DofE kit

Mosquito head net.  It might look silly but you’ll be glad you’ve bought one when you get to Arran.

Insect repellent (We recommend Skin so Soft by Avon)  They now do an expedition bugguard version!  You’ll only need 1 or 2 per team so don’t all bring some.

Our final meeting is on Monday 24th July at the UCLan Media Factory on Cold Bath Street, Preston. 7.00pm start.    You will be able to collect the kit you wish to loan at this meeting and should come prepared to pack your rucksack and complete a pre expedition check.

Payment                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The meeting on Monday 24th July is the last chance to make payment, £115.00, for the expedition unless agreed with myself in advance. Anyone with outstanding payments from the practice should provide payment for both, so £175.00.
