Gold expedition news – Important – Only six weeks till Aran!

The times they are a-changin’.

This post seems to be older than 4 years—a long time on the internet. It might be outdated.

Hi All

It’s been an while since I last messaged you all, but with exam season coming to an end shortly our attention is now turning to your qualifying expedition.

The next Open Gold meeting, where expedition routes and travel arrangements for the qualifying expedition to the Isle of Arran will be discussed will take place on Tuesday 27th June at the Media Factory, part of UCLan, on Cold Bath Street, Preston. (Green and Grey tiled building)

The meeting will start at 7.15pm and run through until 9.30pm.

We will also be having a kit hand out and carrying out a pre expedition check on Monday 24th July at the same venue and times as above.

If you are unable to attend either of the meetings can you please let me know in advance.

Teams will be required to complete any route planning prior to the pre expedition meeting in July.

Just to reaffirm the dates for the expedition. We will be heading up to Scotland on Wednesday July 26, leaving Preston around 6pm.  After overnighting in residential accommodation (no tents required) near Paisley, we will be heading to Ardrossan port, 45mins away, to catch the 8:15am ferry to Arran.   You will start you expedition on the Thursday morning and finish on Sunday 30th July before travelling back to Preston for around 10pm.

The cost of the qualifying expedition will be £115.00, (£175 for those Amplify participants who still owe me for the practice) which covers all your accommodation and camp fees as well as transport costs, inc ferry tickets.  Please can you pay by cash or cheque at the 27th June planning meeting , as we have had to commit significant funds in advance to secure ferry tickets and group accommodation. (Cheques made payable to St Annes Church)Just 6 weeks to go!  Look forward to seeing you all on the 27th June.
