Bronze Expedition Information for parents May 20-21st 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians

This weekend we will be All groups will be walking the same route but at different times. They will all start from Riley Green Marina, Bolton Rd, Hoghton PR5 0SP and finish at Curley’s Dining Rooms
Wallsuches, Off Chorley Old Rd, Horwich, Bolton, Lancs, BL6 6PP. The travel from Ormskirk to drop off and pick up points is approximately 35 mins.

The times for dropping off will be:

Group 1 – 8.15am Group 2 8.30am Group 3 – 8.45am Group 4 – 9.00am (Your Group is circled)

As there is limited parking, it would be ideal if car sharing can be used to limit cars and parents don’t wait about as we want them to leave ASAP.

They will be staying at Bibby’s farm scout camp and walking roughly 15k a day.

All groups will be finishing at Curley’s, as this is somewhere you can grab a coffee if they are later than we expect. Again there is limited parking, so only park in the car park if you are using the cafe. There is general parking outside on the road.

The groups will set off on the Sunday from 7.30am onwards. The first group should arrive at the finish between 2.30pm – 3pm and then it depends on the speed of the following groups to how long they turn up after that. Usually it can depend on the weather, if it rains they go slower, hot they go faster. We would hope all groups would be finished by 4pm however this is an estimate not a guarantee.

We will phone/text all parents of the groups when they are about an hour away from the finish, however please be aware that mobile signals are not great.

All equipment must be returned on Monday 22nd May between 7 – 8pm. If you have a wet tent please hang it on the washing line (weather dependant). Trangias should be cleaned and rucksacks emptied.
